WBI Barber Update! Technique Meets High Style with the Undercut

What was once a ‘butch’ look for ‘lez girls’ is now simply ‘edgy’ style.

Slip into the Underworld of the ‘Undercut”

Its still not for everyone, but the few pop starts that have forced the rebirth of the hyper edgy undercut have made thousands of barbers happy clippers.

Alice Dellal

Alice Dellal wears her undercut haircut with edgy confidence. Tired of the ‘Girly’ trend, women are getting bolder and taking the lead with rocker hair. Barbers are celebrating as demand for the ‘undercut’ brings many women who have never been on the other side of a barber pole, are storming shops for the one sided and double sided look, a kind of Mohawk waterfall.

Women are adopting the edgy style after celebrities like Rihanna, Alice Dellal, Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud and Amelle Berrabah from the Sugababes took the plunge. Eddie Murphy Baby Mama Mel B has the look  -  and her two-year-old daughter, Angel Iris Murphy Brown is rockin’ a baby version.

It doesn’t have to be hard edged and manly. By razoring the edges you can create a more frayed, softer finish and tailor it to suit you.

‘It can be a very beautiful cut, if done well.’

The style was born on David Bowie. It was later borrowed by Beckham when he was signed up to endorse Brylcreem. The rebirth trend started last year when it was worn by Miss Dellal.

’The current fashion trends  -  much influenced by the late 80s and early 90s  -  have made what was originally a more indie, underground look commercially popular.’
